HOW DOES THIS COMPARE TO AN ICE BATH?
It doesn’t! Its simply not possible to achieve the same temperatures and effect with an ice bath. Its like comparing a nap to a full nights sleep. An ice bath is an excruciating 20 minutes or longer. Cryotherapy is much more pleasant. Unlike an ice bath a Whole Body Cryotherapy session is completely dry and lasts from two to three minutes. When you get out of an ice bath your muscles and tissues are cold for hours. Step out of a Cryotherapy session and your body is 100% back to normal in about ten minutes. You don’t risk injury from being cold for so long. You recover much quicker.
HAS CRYOTHERAPY BEEN TESTED?
Researchers and providers in Europe have been developing and refining Cryotherapy for more than thirty years. Thorough scientific studies have been done, supported by solid statistical research, that supports the benefits of Whole Body Cryotherapy. In one study researches found that Whole Body Cryotherapy significantly decreased inflammatory cytokines and increased levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines compared to passive recovery. HOW MANY TIMES CAN I GET CRYOTHERAPY IN A DAY?
We recommend no more than two times a day and only if you are in a heavy training program. Otherwise, a consistent regiment of two or three times a week is adequate.
DO I HAVE TO SHAWER BEFORE OR AFTER CRYOTHERAPY?
No. Cryotherapy is an absolutely dry process and does not make your skin wet. You come to our Cryotherapy Spa, change into one of our plush robes, receive your treatment and then change back into your clothing. The whole treatment takes less than thirty minutes to complete!
CAN I CATCH A COLD BECAUSE OF WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY?
No! Immediate cold impact of the cryo-session will raise the internal body temperature for a short period of time (around 30-40 sec). The rise has a positive effect on chills and may actually help our bodies fight those nasty things that make us sick.
I AM CLAUSTROPHOBIC. WILL I FEEL COMFORTABLE IN THE CROYSAUNA?
Yes. The door is never locked and you can step out at any time. The base inside the sauna is adjusted to your height so that your head is above and outside the cabin at all times.
HOW CAN ANYBODY ENDURE THOSE COLD TEMPERATURES? HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY TREATMENT?
The treatment involves hyper cooled air flowing over the surface of the skin. This process never freezes skin tissues or organs. The result is only a “feeling” of being cold. During each treatment endorphins are released and many clients experience an awareness often compared to a “runner’s high”. These buoyant feelings of wellness last approximately six hours.
IS NITROGEN GAS DANGEROUS TO HUMAN BEINGS?
Please Note: The air we breathe is made up of 16% Oxygen, 1% Hydrogen, 78% Nitrogen and 5% of other components. The client in the Cryotherapy chamber does not breathe the nitrogen gas used to cool the sauna. The client is elevated above the chamber from the chin up. At all times the clients air passages are never in the stream of the super cooled nitrogen. Proper ventilation is always maintained and oxygen levels are monitored by an oxygen sensor at all times.
